Prince Gong's Mansion is located along the west coast of Qianhai, south of Shichahai. It is the largest mansion of its kind in the Qing Dynasty and served as the residence of He Shen and Prince Qing Yonglin. In the first year of the Xianfeng reign in Qing Dynasty (1851), Prince Gong Yixin became the owner of the mansion, so it was named Prince Gong's Mansion.Prince Gong's Mansion and Garden have experienced the historical process of the Qing Dynasty's prosperity and decline, hence the saying, "One Prince Gong's Mansion, half of Qing Dynasty history". The mansion is grand and magnificent, while the gardens are scattered with pavilions and courtyards, making it one of the best-preserved typical mansions in Beijing.
